Free guide from Conversational Clarity
Word-for-word scripts for the dating conversations you've been putting off. Clarity is not pressure. It's asking, then listening.
The formula behind every script
Observation + Your Preference + Open Question
You are not diagnosing him or demanding that he change. You are sharing what you've noticed, what matters to you, and what you'd like to understand. Then you stop, and listen.
1. When you want to know what he's looking for
"I'm enjoying getting to know you. I'm dating because I'd ultimately like a committed relationship. I don't expect anyone to know what this is yet, but what are you hoping to build at this point in your life?"
2. When texting feels thin
"I don't need to text all day, but I enjoy regular connection when I'm getting to know someone. What does communication usually look like for you when you're dating someone you like?"
3. When plans stay vague
"I'd like to see you. My week fills up pretty quickly, so I do better when we make actual plans. What day works for you?"
4. When you want exclusivity
"I'm at the point where I'd rather focus on getting to know one person than continue dating around. I'd be interested in being exclusive with you. How are you feeling about that?"
5. When something is good but not enough
"I've really enjoyed what we've been building. At the same time, I'm looking for something that becomes more consistent and integrated over time. I'd like to see us moving in that direction. Is that something you want too?"
Then stop. Don't add "but no pressure" or "I'm not trying to rush anything." A clear question deserves a clear opportunity to be answered. And watch what happens next: a beautiful answer without a change in behavior is still information.
Confidence is knowing you can handle the truth.
